This development weekend for initiated men (only) provides an opportunity for elders and those interested in serving as an elder (at the rites, in local groups, and at other events) to develop their skills in weaving and ritual leadership. The weekend will be facilitated by experienced elders and will weave together elements of practice, coaching, mentoring, council, reflection and groupwork. Part of the weekend will also be spent reviewing some of the rituals used during the rites that have generated crtical feedback in previous years.

The venue for this development weekend is the Youth Centre at Rydal Hall, a diocesan retreat centre. For more information about the venue, please see http://www.rydalhall.org/stay/the-youth-centre/. Accommodation is in four dormitories with bunk beds. There are several bathrooms, showers, communal spaces and a well-equipped kitchen. We have exclusive use of the Centre and will be providing our own catering. We welcome offers of service from men wishing to join a service crew to organise the catering throughout the weekend; please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information.

You will need to bring your own sleeping bag or duvet, and a towel, in addition to your personal kit.

Rydal Hall has plenty of car parking on site. For those travelling by train, pick-ups will be arranged from Penrith (on the West Coast Mainline) or from Windermere (on a branch line from Oxenholme station on the West Coast Mainline).

The Male Journey's development budget will cover the accommodation costs. The catering costs will be shared amongst those participating in the event, and money will be collected during the weekend.

Up to 18 places are available on this event.
